Thomas Yeon is delighted to have participated in a special program on international commercial arbitration (国际商事仲裁专题活动) in Shanghai on 9 and 10 June 2025, as part of a delegation from the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (HKIArb). In this program, the delegation participated in academic and professional exchanges at the Academic Common Law Centre (普通法學術中心) of the East China University of Political Science and Law, the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), and the Shanghai Economic and Trade Shanghai Mediation Center. The exchanges, attended by legal practitioners and students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Australia, focused on the use and developments of domestic and cross-border arbitration and mediation in commercial disputes.

As part of the exchange at the East China University of Political Science and Law, Thomas also delivered a presentation on the enforcement and setting aside of arbitral awards in Hong Kong, focusing on Mainland and local awards. The presentation offered an in-depth overview of the substantive and procedural law, as well as practical strategies for such applications.
