Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal has granted leave to appeal on whether a shipowner may limit liability for wreck removal expenses under LLMC 1976 where the contracting state (eg HK and UK) has suspended Art 2(1) head (d). Clifford Smith and Edward Alder, instructed by Reed Smith Richards Butler, act for the appellant shipowner. The appeal will be heard in June 2023. ([2023] HKCFA 5)
