INSIGHTS

Prince’s Chambers’ Sebastian Hughes joined leading advocates from across the Hong Kong Bar this week for the inaugural Hong Kong Barristers Bash, an event focused on emerging issues in cryptocurrency disputes and arbitration.

Hosted by Broadfield and Jonathan Crompton, Partner and Head of Asia Dispute Resolution and Investigations, the event brought together disputes practitioners and industry professionals for an evening of presentations and debate on cutting-edge legal issues arising in the digital asset sector.

The format saw four panellists each given ten minutes to present a crypto-related case from their own practice. In his presentation, Sebastian examined ground-breaking litigation involving the investment of stablecoin reserves. The concise presentation format encouraged a lively exchange of ideas and highlighted the increasing complexity of disputes involving cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and related technologies.

The individual presentations were followed by an engaging panel discussion and audience Q&A session, during which participants explored practical challenges currently facing litigants, arbitrators and counsel in the sector.

Prince’s Chambers thanks Jonathan Crompton and the Broadfield team for hosting a highly successful event. The evening provided an excellent opportunity to share experiences from practice, discuss developments in digital asset disputes and connect with colleagues across the disputes community.

We look forward to future editions of the Hong Kong Barristers Bash and to continuing the conversation around the rapidly evolving legal issues arising from cryptocurrencies and digital assets. For more information, please contact Sebastian directly.
