INSIGHTS

Lavesh Kirpalani maintains a broad commercial disputes practice with a particular focus on international arbitration. Throughout his career, he has acted as counsel in a wide range of arbitration matters involving multinational parties, cross-border transactions and high-value commercial claims. His experience spans disputes arising from:

  • Share sale and investment agreements
  • Distribution arrangements
  • Financing and asset stripping disputes
  • Aviation and aircraft parts supply contracts
  • Shipping and maritime matters
  • Commercial and corporate disputes across multiple jurisdictions

His arbitration experience includes proceedings under the HKIAC and ICC rules, including claims valued at over HK$100 million and disputes involving parties from Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Lavesh is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and regularly advises on arbitration-related court proceedings, including enforcement actions, set-aside applications and anti-suit injunctions.

Most recently, Lavesh shared his insights on international arbitration and cross-border risk management at a seminar co-hosted by the China-Britain Business Council, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and the University of Law in Shenzhen. During the session, he spoke on practical considerations for drafting UK-China arbitration clauses and the enforcement of arbitral awards, providing guidance to legal practitioners, students, in-house counsel and cross-border businesses navigating increasingly complex international trade relationships.

As international commerce continues to evolve, effective dispute resolution mechanisms are becoming increasingly important for businesses operating across borders. Through his work as counsel, arbitrator and speaker, Lavesh remains at the forefront of developments in international arbitration, helping clients manage risk and resolve disputes efficiently in a global marketplace.
